Shindigz Holds Food Drive for Local Food Bank
There’s a big need in the small town of South Whitley right now and Shindigz is doing their part to help. Shindigz held a food drive during the week of November 12th – 16th to collect as many food items as possible for the South Whitley Food Bank. Shindigz also offered the incentive of having a random drawing to give away a paid day off in 2013. Shindigz collected 385 food items and $85 during the one week food drive. The South Whitley Food Bank feeds 80 to 100 people per week with two to four new families each week. Many local residents have to choose between paying for living expenses, like their electric bill, or putting food on their tables. Having the food bank available and stocked helps South Whitley residents do both. The food bank has no income restrictions for those wanting to utilize the service. Items offered to food bank clients include canned goods, fresh vegetables, boxed items, nonperishable staples as well as meat.
Shindigz will be hosting another food drive in December to benefit their local town. For more information about the South Whitley Food Bank contact Tanya Warner at 260-248-1537.
